COVERED HEART

COVERED HEART

I know it’s in there, I’ve seen it, I’ve felt it’s warmth. I’ve known it’s comfort, I’ve seen it’s wealth. It’s hiding, it’s protected, it’s built up walls. It’s so down deep, one can’t explore. Where it is, just a glimmer of light revels it’s existence. With my own walls, have I kept myself from reaching it?

Whats the combination? Misunderstanding? Poorly chosen words, a sharp tongue, fear of revealing all to you, a wall of my own? Bitterness, disappointment, rudeness, lack of respect? Have I lost the combination? Will it ever open? Can I break down these walls, I’m part in building?

This life is hard, it doesn’t help my efforts, I search my own heart, only to find its in the same condition. I will spend my life exploring as an archeologist. With Christ as my chief explorer. I will search every corner, every angle. From one end to the other, to once again discover the beauty down deep. The treasure I lost, the treasure yet discovered, this heart of yours that’s been covered. This covered heart!

I FOUND FAITH

I FOUND FAITH

I opened the door to my heart
At first it was dark, feeling apart
A light in the distance, was him I knew
A shadow appears whispering true
“I’m here keep walking” He said
As I step forward looking ahead
Let me come to you, in you I keep
As I feel the oceans surface below my feet
A figure like a ghost appears
Welling up in me fears
I began to sink
He reached out and took my hand
Saying “you of little faith, stand”
His voice so gentle but with command
As He stood like a wraith
I found faith

BROKEN WINGS

BROKEN WINGS

In the nest without a worry in the world
Daddy goes out and does the hard work, bringing the straw to build the nest
He goes hunting to bring home food and momma does the rest
Guarding, protecting, feeding, nesting, preparing for the days to come
Now its time for the little one to spread its wings
Out from the nest its soars and sings, yet on its own now, it’s free
Vulnerable to what this hard world brings
It’s not long its wings damaged and can no longer fly
Daddy soars across the sky, responding to his darlings cries
Once again safe from the world and in the comfort of the nest
Mamma tends to the wings and daddy prepares to teach and test
Full of love he’s hard and stern, this times preparations must be learned
Discipline the building of character, maturity an inner strength
This time there will be no mistakes
The hard lessons, it now must face to fly alone
Daddy guides with a list of directions with complete love in his heart
The words of guidance seem hard, His truth at times stings
Only to protect against broken wings

UNDISCOVERED

RAINBOW

UNDISCOVERED

Beneath your outer person is a jewel needing to be revealed
A glorious stone yet to be polished
A priceless pearl
When brought to the light of its true color
A rare diamond full of riches within
A glory only light can reveal
Deep within its prison, guarded by walls of many kinds
Is an endless treasure to be found
Though deep within your walls
Having not the key, lays undiscovered
The night watchman shines his lantern upon the deep darkness
There high above the heart of the cave
The treasure breaking through with the slightest sparkle
The night watchman drawn to its powerful glare
Removes the muck with a gentle touch of his hands
Once undiscovered now a treasure indeed
He works against the rigid walls
Taking careful measure not to harm this jewel
Clearing away all darkness revealing the heart of the stone
Now blinded by the glory of the stone he turns his lantern down
This beautiful stone now carries its own light
A light of his glory once undiscovered
