THE GIFT

God gave a gift to man
The gift did not understand
The gift it was meant to be
So the man went to retrieve
The gift. He knew it would bring
Blessing to his life, you see
The gift saw the man and ran away
So the man began to think and say
I must find a way, to search for my gift
There on the trail, my gift left prints
So the man packed for his trip
And set off to retrieve his gift
About an hour in, there near the rocky cliff
Feeding off the rich land was his gift
So the man came up with a plan
He took a rope from his bag and made a lasso
A trick he learned, growing up in El Paso
So he snuck up on the gift
And flung the lasso with his wrist
Around the neck of his gift
The gift began to kick and run
Dragging the man quite a distance
The man frustrated from the resistance
Tried again, this time he brought a post
And just before the gift almost
Got away again, he drove the post into the ground
Tying the end of the rope, to the post and found
His way slowly to his gift
Climbing on it’s back, there was a shift
and the gift began to kick
until the man went flying off
Again the man dusted himself off
Grabbed the rope and began to break the gift
And break the gift, until the man climbed up once again
And the two rode off as one
Then God said, I’m the Man, You’re the horse
Unless you are broken, can you become the gift
I intended you to be!
